Sheriff's Office parking lot on the left and follow the sidewalk to the left wing of the building to the "Training Center" door. The Exams will be held in the Sgt. Cole Training Room at the end of the hall and we'll have VE Exam signs posted for extra help.
General Info & Requirements:
Just remember to bring two (2) pieces of positive ID (one being a photo ID, such as your Driver's License, the other can be a birth certificate, Social Security card, and students may bring a school ID card, etc.), also bring the $15 test fee (or $30, just in case you fail the first version of the test and wish to take the second one), a calculator is optional (please note: the memory will need to be cleared if it is a programmable type!), and #2 pencils along with a black or blue pen, which are necessary for filling out the test and application, and you'll also need to know your Social Security number or FRN number for that application. You may not bring any written notes or calculations into the exam session. However, scratch paper will be provided.
Part of the fun of earning your Amateur Radio license is taking and passing the entrance exam for the Techician Class License. We have had people come through the doors and take ALL of the exams and walk out an Extra, which is exciting, but we celebrate each and every new licensee equally.
Below are a few of our recent, as well as not-so-recent successful candidates. Keep checking back and see who is added to the scrapbook.
Left Pic:It's all in a day's work for Lansing's Emergency Mgr., Trent Atkins and nephew, Joshua as they celebrate with their new CSCE. Right Pic: He's all smiles! Ryan is ready to play radio, once his callsign is revealed.
Antoni (left) beams with his freshly minted CSCE and plans to work with SKYWARN this year. Ken (right) is equally happy with his. When a class comes through like this, the credit goes to the students, as well as the teacher(s).
Mason resident, Dennis (left) is already looking at radios and getting his station plans in order. ARPSC guru, Ben (WX8BEN) came and conquered the General Class exam. Hey Ben, nice job on the test!
