More than ever before, the Ladies are taking CMARC by storm. For years, the Ladies would go elsewhere during CMARC meetings and have their own coffee clatches, but not anymore.
The Central Michigan Amateur Radio Club is seeing growth in YLs (Young Ladies) and XYLs (Ex Young Ladies) and they have their own functions, as well as taking part in the normal activities at the Club. So, let's tell you about some of them...
The Ladies' Tea Time Net is held each Tuesday evening at 7pm on the 145.390 repeater. (100Hz PL Tone). Join your hostess, Julie McLain (KB8ZXR) with a hot cup of tea and get in on the ragchew. The OMs (Old Men) are welcome, too, but this Net is geared to the ladies. We've even seen several check-ins by Ladies who are working 3rd party on their OMs license (this is welcome and encouraged!).
The Ladies' Tea Time Net Luncheon is held monthly and rotates between ladies' homes. According to Julie, they enjoy a nice lunch, share craft ideas and talk about many things which are not related to Ham Radio. All ladies are encouraged and invited to attend and if you need more information, you can call Julie McLain at 517-694-0812.
